Random 盟 Appearance Headcanons

Lighter hair than 冥.
Cheek dimples.
Completely emotionless eyes. His expressions never reach them.
Looks more in line with 静 and 清.
- Similar smug atmosphere.
- Similar smile to 大.

Childhood

盟 had his Nanami Utena moment with the cat that dared to steal his brother’s love.
Grandma saw him dragging 冥 around like a cat after the actual cat was gone and had to step in.
盟 always complimented 冥’s eye, but 冥 always assumed he was actually making fun of him.
- 盟 was genuinely in love with it. He thought it was so fascinating and pretty and he felt so possessive over it.
盟: If Mei-chan doesn’t want it, I can take it out for you and I’ll keep it!
- 冥 was so scared he just clung to his grandma sobbing, unable to tell her what the problem was.
- 盟 would have treasured it though. He’d have preserved it and kissed it - it was so cute!!
- If 冥 isn’t going to be with him all the time (and 5 minutes is an awful long time to a child), he should be allowed 冥’s eye, so he can keep him with him. He could even carry it with him, since it’s small!!
They’d sometimes have to share a bed as kids, much to 冥’s horror.
- 盟 loved it and would squeeze 冥 like a toy.
盟 holding 冥 down and forcing him to say he loves him and not letting him go until he says it like he means it.
- 冥 having a stammer so even when he tries to say it properly, he can’t and just gets upset and starts crying.
Every time 冥 ran away when they were kids, 盟 would go looking for him and he’d always find him and be like “I thought I’d lost you” and kiss him full on the mouth.
- Threatens that if it happens again, he’ll chase him down and break his legs.

  - 冥 getting pissed off at him making fun of him but 盟 doesn’t see what the issue is! He’s doing it because he loves him!
    - Their parents telling 冥 that 盟 is just doing it to be like him but 盟 is grinning and 冥 is sure he’s making fun of him.
- He eventually accepts that it’s good they look different - 冥 is the most beautiful guy in the world and he’s happy they could be so connected.
- If 冥 wasn’t made for him, they’d look alike rather than 冥 being exactly his type!
  - 盟 was born first, so his type was established first and then 冥 was born to fit his type!
The first time 冥 came home with a bruise from someone else, 盟 was pissed.
- Beat up the person who bullied 冥.
- Gave 冥 more bruises to mark his territory.
Sometimes, 盟 would go too far and think 冥 was genuinely going to die and start crying, only for him to be alright and 盟 would punch him for scaring him.
- Then he’d hug him so tight and 冥 assumes he’s trying to choke him.
- Clearly 盟 wants him dead.
- The five minutes 盟 thought he’d lost him were the scariest experience of his life.
- 盟 is on the verge of tears, but he’s dragging 冥 around by the neck.
- 冥 can’t slep that night because 盟 keeps thinking he’s dead every time he gets close.
After 冥 went to live with grandma, 盟 spent days asking when 冥 was coming back and waiting by the window for him only to eventually accept he was never coming back.
- 冥 spent that same time panicking grandma was going to change her mind and make him go back.
盟 go so excited every time he heard grandma was coming over because surely she’d bring 冥 home this time!
- 冥 clinging to her, begging not to go back.
  - She wasn’t going to take him.
盟 having a nice party but he’s spending the whole day upset because they should be sharing the party.
Grandma comes over for half an hour just to show face and give him a present and he immediately starts picking a fight.
- He doesn’t want the birthday present, he wants 冥 back!!
- This is why he’s not getting 冥 back.
  - She always asks if 冥 wants to and he always starts crying and she would not put him through that.
  - It’s clear 盟 still doesn’t care about his feelings and wants to treat him like a toy.
    - 盟 is sure that if 冥 came then he’d realise he wants to be there! (wrong)
盟 begging. He’s sorry he over-reacted to 冥 loving something more than him (would repeat this behaviour.) but they used to have fun together! (wrong)
盟 always said he was in love with 冥 and would marry him some day.
- Everyone wrote it off as a kid getting confused between words for “love” but never noticed he only made this “mistake” with 冥.
盟 would try to force 冥 to say “I love you too”
盟 would make 冥 choose between kissing him and far worse forms of torture, so he’d always end up agreeing to the kisses.
盟 used to get upset when Shinbashi got nice presents because then he’d pay attention to the present instead of 盟, but then 盟 realised he could take it away and see what 冥 would do to get it back.

University

冥 would call 盟 “nii-san” when they were kids, but when they reunite in university, he’s just “Mei”
- Trying to prove he doesn’t owe 盟 deference.
- 盟 actually likes it more cause he can be linked to 冥 and it feels so intimate to be called by his first name.
  - 冥 quickly stops using his name for him at all and he becomes “you”, “that guy”, “bastard”.
冥 seeing 盟 again and desperately trying to convince himself that he’s tough and not scared of him anymore.
- 盟 can see he’s trembling (his poor little brother)
  - 冥 is so cute and scared… 盟 starts dragging him around to “help him come out of his shell”
    - 冥 feels like it’s the exact same as when they were kids.
盟 was genuinely worried 冥 would have forgotten him.
- Seeing him so scared, he knew 冥 still remembered.
冥 desperately wants to introduce them like it’s a coincidence that they have the same name (after all, they look nothing alike) vs 盟 who always tells everyone that this is his beloved little brother.
冥 had 3 wonderful days of university where he could seem cool and aloof, and then 盟 attached himself to him and he became “Mei’s little brother, the one that writes the scripts.”
盟 seeing the old wounds when 冥 is getting changed and getting so excited at how they’ve turned out.
- Tracing them down his back right there.
They bring the most toxic air to the troupe
Neither of them trust anyone.
- Except for 盟 trusting 冥 with his life.
盟 is extremely social and has loads of friends, but there’s a notable difference in the distance between him and them and him and 冥.
- He’ll ditch them all the second he sees 冥 walking by.
  - 冥 is notably trying to get away from him.
盟 is generally really popular (and presumed straight), so there’s plenty of people interested in him. 冥 is aware of his own gayness but doesn’t want to be with anyone anyway.
- He wants to live a nice life with his cats, but instead he has to like men.
- He doesn’t even noticing when someone tries to hit on him.
  - They’re getting rejected without 冥 even realising what was going on.
    - Then they mysteriously trip down the stairs.
    - If 冥 knew they were hitting on him, he’d think 盟 was homophobic.
- 盟 acts his part as the flirt too, including with the guys.
  - He’s desperately trying to make 冥 jealous.
  - 冥 gets pissed at him for “stringing guys along”.
    - 盟 counts this as it working.
    - 冥 noticing is positive reinfocements. 冥 is taking interest in him and what he’s doing.
冥 starts university with longer hair, but 盟 kept playing with it (and pulling it) because he was just so interested in it.
- 冥 eventually cut it off with the kitchen scissors. Straight cut across.
  - The hair and makeup department were lecturing him for a week.
    - He tried to tell them to fuck off since he’s not on stage and it’s not their business.
      - It looks bad on them for anyone in the troupe to be looking like that.
    - Meanwhile, 盟 is begging them to fix it.
      - Holding the clippers and looking to 盟 for confirmation and he aggressively refuses.
Neither of them were interested in giving people ways to distinguish between them. They both believed they should be Shinbashi Mei and would not relent.
- 盟 liked that having the same name tied them together.
- 冥 would never give up his name to this bastard.
  - After 盟 died, 冥 lost all devotion to his name and didn’t care what anyone called him anymore.
Every time they got paired up, 盟 would be so clingy and give him “joke” kisses, much to 冥’s annoyance.
The troupe doing Romeo and Juliet and 冥 getting pissed during the tomb scene because 盟 is not interpreting the text right.
- 盟 is a very unconvincing corpse because 冥 is leaning over him talking about kissing his lips to drink poison from them.
  - Stop smiling!! You’re dead!!
  盟: I think Romeo is happy to be dead.
  
  冥: IT’S A TRAGEDY YOU FUCKING IDIOT.
  
  盟: but he died to be with her so he’d die happy knowing they’d meet again.
  
  冥: I’m going to tell them to recast you.
  - 盟 insists he’d never let 冥 be buried without him.
  盟: I’d be happiest if we could die together.
  
  冥, internally: He’s going to fucking kill me.
冥 starts bringing in his own scripts because he’s sick of 盟 bastardising Shakespeare and hopefully they’ll start casting someone with actual talent.
- If he wanted someone else cast, why do so many of 冥’s plays have characters that are perfect for him?
Everyone thinks 盟 is a great actor, but 冥 thinks he’s awful and unconvincing.
- As far as he’s concerned, he can see right through him.
- No matter who 盟 tries to be, 冥 will only ever see 盟.
- 冥 is the audience 盟 is working hardest to impress and the only one he really cares about.
盟 always asks 冥 what he thought of his performance and 冥 thinks it’s some ego thing.
- Clearly he’s trying to rub in that he’s an actor when 冥 is a “mere writer”.
  - And that he’s charismatic and good-looking.
    - 盟 calls 冥 “cute” all the time, but 冥 never takes it as a compliment.
- He did a shit job. He was staring at 冥 the whole time.
冥 would write scripts specifically to cast 盟 as the villain.
- 盟 always played them extremely sexy and 冥 would yell at the director for letting him.

  Everyone else looking at the script: No, that’s. Definitely how you wrote him.
  - 冥 will try to get him to just do a one-on-one table read with him to try and fix it, but now he’s just dealing with a sexy villain privately flirting with him.

    盟: Mei-chan, I’m just trying to get a feel for it.

盟 always complains that other writers don’t do romantic monologues anywhere near as good as 冥 does.

  冥: I don’t even like anyone and he’s trying to steal them from me.
- 冥 can’t stand having 盟 reading the romantic monologues he writes.
冥 is always pissed when 盟 gets the male lead for his plays because he’s going to be saying all 冥’s gushing romantic lines and he reads them good but 冥 can’t fucking stand it.
- 盟 aces every audition for them while staring directly at 冥.
  - 冥 is regularly shouting at him to focus on his fucking acting partner.
盟 would frequently change the female leads name to “Mei-chan” “accidentally” during his one-on-one line read time.
- Every time, 冥 expects him to get it wrong on stage too.
  - And what would be more embarrassing than the actor saying his own damn name.
Everyone notices 盟 is more passionate doing romantic scenes during the dress rehearsals (when 冥 is watching) than during the actual show.
- Everyone is trying to write it off as him having a touch of stage fright, but he keeps looking at 冥 during every confession.
  - 冥 thinks he’s trying to tell him his confessions are cringe.
  - 盟 is giving the most empassioned performance of his life delivering this confession and CLEARLY it’s to make fun of 冥 for even writing it.
冥 is pissed because he doesn’t take his scripts seriously.
盟 getting 冥 to rehearse with him but 冥 just feels humiliated because he knows he’s a bad acotr and that 盟 will make fun of him for it.
- The worse he is at acting, the better it is for 盟. He doesn’t want 冥 to pretend to be someone else.
- 冥 says all the romantic lines like it’s actively hurting him and 盟 loves it.
  - 盟 hearing some lines and just being so stunned he forgets he’s even meant to be rehearsing until 冥 shouts at him to check his damn script if he forgets his line.
    - Knowing his damn lines is the least he could do for dragging him out here!
  - Other times, he forgets they’re rehearsing and replies completely earnestly, only to get shouted at for rewriting 冥’s script.
- 盟 delivers all his lines perfectly when he rehearses with his co-star, but gets tongue-tied when he’s looking 冥 in the eye.
  - 冥 assumes he’s making fun of him.
盟 was so happy learning that 冥 hadn’t let anyone else see his eye while they were apart.

- 冥 tries to refuse to take it off for him but ends up giving in.
  - 盟 says “かわいい”, but 冥 hears “かわいそう” (force of his own expectation)
    - 冥 desperately trying to smoke the anxiety away but his fingers won’t work and 盟 ends up lighting it for him.
- 盟 doesn’t want anyone else to ever see it. The eyepatch has to stay on.
  - If 冥 can’t be trusted, then he might just have to take it.
Someone from the troupe accidentally walks in on 冥 when he has his eyepatch off and proceeds to mysteriously fall down stairs.
- 盟 acts like a concerned troupe member while gently prodding to see if he hit his head bad enough to forget seeing 冥 without it.
  - When he suggests he does remember, he has another accident.
  - 冥 must be cursed…
    - He doesn’t want 冥 to have a bad reputation but. Necessary evils.
    - 冥 isn’t too bothered by people avoiding him, he just wishes 盟 was among them.
    - It really pisses him off though that someone will get mysteriously hurt after interacting with him and then he’ll see 盟 with an expression 冥 recognises from his cats bringing him dead birds.
盟 never saw what was in the locket so he’s constantly convinced it’s some love interest he has to be jealous of.
- 盟 saying “she isn’t even pretty” and if grandma could hear him, she’d disown him all over again.
盟 makes a habit of stealing 冥’s cigarettes when he’s in the middle of smoking them.
- They’re not his preferred brand, so he always complains about the taste.
冥 who gets a bit pissed off when 盟 keeps going to mixers.
- He should be taking his studies more seriously, not flirting!
- 冥 who whines about people spending too much time at parties and neglecting their responsibilities.
  
  盟: Aww, so you agree you’re my responsbility?
  
  冥 internally: I need him dead.
  
  盟: Is he jealous? Cute. I want to see more.
- Not to mention, there’s always some girl that tries to pick a fight with 冥 after and he has no idea what it’s about.
  - He assumes 盟 was talking shit about him.
盟 trying to drag 冥 with him to some mixers.
- 冥 got annoyed at some girls trying to pick a fight with him.
- 盟 got annoyed at some girls trying to flirt with 冥.
  - 盟 isn’t interested in bringing him anymore.
盟 turning down invitations to social events on 冥’s behalf and he’s mostly right when he says 冥 wouldn’t be interested, but the lack of being invited to anything is making 冥 feel isolated from everyone.
盟’s short lived relationships where they get mad at him for clearly thinking about someone else the whole time.

A-ko: You’re so self-absorbed. You’re just in love with your own reflection.
盟 knows every piece of gossip that goes around the troupe.
- If 冥 starts dating anyone, he’ll be the first to know.
盟 could confess, but it wouldn’t matter because 冥 won’t listen.
- Which is fair, because 盟 doesn’t listen when 冥 says no.
盟 suggesting they dorm together because 冥 doesn’t seem to be sleeping well.

盟: You don’t sleep at all. It would be good for us to dorm together, then I can make sure you’re getting enough sleep
- 冥 would rather die than have this guy telling him when to sleep.
No one was particularly shocked when 盟 died.
盟 not realising 冥 was killing him on purpose at first and then it slowly dawning on him.
- He keeps trying to make excuses for him.
- He used to imagine killing 冥 so no one else could have him… he gets it…
- If this is how he needs to repent for Mei-chan to love him, then he’ll happily die for Mei-chan.
  - He does wish they’d have died together. He doesn’t want 冥 to be lonely.
冥 desperately reassuring himself that 盟 deserves this.
- 盟 only ever thinks about himself. He’s a horrible, selfish person that never cared for anyone.
- He’s a horrible person who killed 冥’s beloved cat, so he deserves it.
- Forget all the times he helped 冥 out. All the times he got people to make allowances for 冥’s plays to match his vision.
- He always hated 盟 dragging him around, proudly showing him off to everyone like a pet.
盟 thinking 冥 is being awfully handsy as he struggles to secure the harness and commenting on it and 冥 is just glad this bastard will be dead soon.
- 盟 is busy thinking maybe 冥 likes him more than he thought… They should get breakfast after this :)
Convincing himself that if he let 盟 down, he’d definitely kill him.
Crying just a little but it’s definitely just a physical thing and not an emotional thing.
- It’s cause he’s going to get caught, that’s it.
- 盟 isn’t quite dead when 冥 starts crying.
  - At least the last thing he sees is 冥’s cute crying face.

Ooe Ann

盟 hearing rumours about how Ann destroys every man she meets
Questions 冥 about everything every time he meets with Ann.
冥 assumes 盟 is interested in her - how pathetic.

盟: It’s not like she’d go for a guy like you anyway, Mei-chan. You shouldn’t even bother with her. I mean, she could get any guy she wanted and she’d never understand how cute Mei-chan’s eye is she’d probably call it ugly and

冥 is gay and thinks he’s just being an asshole.
It would, in fact, be funnier to see 盟 getting rejected actually.
Now he’s got to write for two divas.
Ann meeting 盟 and instantly like “oh you’re OBSESSED with your brother.”
Ann faking flirting with him and sending 冥 away.
冥 grumbling because of course 盟 is getting everything he wants as always.
The second 冥 is out of earshot, she’s on his ass.

Ann: He’s adorable, isn’t he?

盟: haha…

Torn between enthusiastic agreement, wanting her to back off, and pretending to be normal.
Keeps trying to flirt with her (as he does with any girl 冥 seems interested in) but she’s completely uninterested now that he’s not there.

Ann: If this is how you flirt, you need some lessons. No wonder Shinbashi-sensei doesn’t like you.

盟 knows she’s just trying to get at him but the thought that 冥 may have talked about him and he needs to know what he said.
Trying to be so subtle about asking what 冥 has said about him.
- 冥 never even mentioned having a brother.
- Ann is absolutely lost as to how he has anyone fooled.

盟: So, do you have any advice for an aspiring young actor?

Ann: Get good or give up. You’re really bad at it.

He has no idea what she means.
冥 coming back and asking “when’s the wedding” and sounding so pissed it sounds bitter and 盟 is imprinting that in his mind.
冥 having a moment of weakness after Ann’s death and desperately needing comforted that it’s not his fault.
Tries to disguise it as telling 盟 that Ann is dead because, of course, he liked her and this is 冥 being a good brother.
盟 can’t help but smile.
盟 catching himself just too late and realising how update 冥 is.
- The jealousy of why is Mei-chan upset over that bitch. Would he be this upset if I died?
  - No.
  - Mei-chan is upset -> I was right, he does like her. -> She’s dead :)#

冥 liking 盟 back

盟 who sees every little change in 冥 so knows when 冥 is starting to like him back even when 冥 doesn’t
冥 isn’t as scared of him.
He comes to him of his own free will instead of being dragged.
冥 is stubborn so he won’t accept either of them acting on it and he won’t accept that his feelings about 盟 have changed.
If 冥 could just be honest, 盟 wouldn’t have to force him.
- “Mei-chan is cute when he struggles, especially when he clearly likes it” (guy who is deluding himself)
There’s the point where 冥 secretly likes it and the point where he genuinely doesn’t like it and 盟 can tell, but will ignore it if he’s having enough fun.
- This is everything that went wrong in their childhood.
冥 has to constantly refuse 盟’s marriage proposals.

盟: We wouldn’t even have to change our names _{though we could swap the kanji}
- 冥 always dreamed of a big wedding.
  - They can compromise and have a big party (and claim it’s just a joint birthday party)
  - 盟 promises not to kiss him during the party but he is Struggling.
  - If they’re going to be married, his friends are going to find out, what does it matter if they find out now or later!!
盟 seeing 冥 actually smile for the first time and his heart stops.
- Hearing him truly laugh and his heart breaks that it took this long to hear it.
- He’s always told himself that 冥 is cutest when he cries but he was just believing that he was never going to be able to make 冥 smile.
  - He was such a stupid kid for ever settling for tears when he could have had this. He wants to see that smile forever.
- He smiles for the first time when he catches 盟 trying to play with the cats while waiting for a date.
  - This is enough to convince him he needs to be nice to the cats.

Relationship with Oosaki-san and Takanawa-san

Oosaki-san and Takanawa-san hate his ass.
He doesn’t like them either but he’s trying to be nice for 冥’s sake.
They keep pushing between them on the couch so 盟 can’t get too close.
- They’re giving him a smug look as they keep them on opposite ends of the couch.
盟 tried to move them once and 冥 told him it’s their home and he can sit on the damn floor.
- 盟 sits at his feet looking up at him and actually this is worse.
冥 yelling at him for not being nice enough. They have feelings too!
- What about 盟’s feelings?
  - 冥 isn’t convinced he has those.
Their opinion of 盟 is not improved by 冥 being so restless every time he visits.
盟 isn’t a fan of them getting to see 冥’s eye either.
Wanting to see 冥 smile more, 盟 starts trying to train them to let him pick them up.
- He tries to give them treats, but they’re clearly suspicious of him even when they eat them.
- He ends up getting scratched and 冥 lectures him about bothering them.

盟 Kitty Cat Reincarnation

大新 Ending

盟 reincarnated as Oosaki-san
Pushing between 大 and 冥.
冥 will finally call him by his (new) name!! And he gets priority over that bastard detective.
- He’ll pretend 冥 is calling him nii-san (doesn’t sound like that at all)

冥 Thinking 盟 is Homophobic

冥 being convinced 盟 has a problem with him being gay (clearly having a gay brother is a huge issue for him) even though it’s not like he’s planning to date anyone.
He’s not even interested in any of the guys at their university.
盟 is happy to hear that. Keep it that way.
盟 wanting to insist he’ll leave any guy interested in 冥 alone as long as 冥 does whatever he wants, but he doesn’t want 冥 doing things for the sake of some other guy.
- If 冥 was only with him for some other guy, he’d genuinely snap.

冥: Having to spend so much time with you is enough to put me off being into guys.

盟 is taking this as “any other guys”
- After all, he’s always hanging aroung 盟!
  - 盟 is the one following him.

Pluto Psychoanalysis

Someone from the old troupe going to see one of Pluto’s plays and say hi to 冥 and just being damn. That cat reminds me of 盟.
- Mentions 盟 to 冥 and immediately gets thrown out.
  - Well they know where the love interest’s attitude came from.
- They didn’t know what 盟 was really like; who do they think they are to suggest such things.
冥 frantically going over his scripts to check them for 盟.
The bundle of scripts about a hero going on long quests for the slightest crumb of attention from their love interest.
There’s no way they’re anything like 盟 though.
- Though he can imagine how 盟 would have played each role.
  - Oh, he’d definitely shouted at the director about how they were played.
  - Whatever, there’s loads of actors with way more talent than 盟 ever had!
Any shitty characters going through redemption arcs is not to be examined and never would have happened in real life.
- 盟 taught him how to write monsters. The ones that get redeemed are better than he ever was.
  - The ones that fall in love have something 盟 never had - A DAMN HEART
  - Their redemptions always come from them finding someone they sincerely care for, which 盟 never did.
Promising himself there will be no romance in the next one.
- The crowds are horrified? No romance? From our romance writer?
  - 品 in peak LET HIM COOK!!!
    - Then the romantic subtext hits and he was so right this is one of the most romantic things Pluto has ever written.
    - Especially the ones about grief.
    - Producers are asking him for more subtle romances and 冥 is about to fucking quit.
A lot of miscommunication in the relationship dramas.
- People complain that it’s cheap, but 冥 thinks it’s just realistic.
- No one ever says what they mean. Everyone half listens and makes assumptions. That’s how all relationships are, romantic or not.

Tattoos

This is a “would absolutely never happen but the idea is funny” kinda thing.

冥 getting a tattoo and 盟 getting really upset about it.
盟 coming back with a book on stick and poke tattoos.
- They can give each other matching tattoos. Since 冥 is into that.

盟: We should get each other’s names! It’ll be funny because we’re both Mei!

Any of 盟’s dates getting far enough to see his tattoo and wondering why he has a tattoo of his own name.
If they ask, he starts thinking about how much he’d rather be with 冥 right now and quickly loses interest in the date.
- He’s been talking about 冥 since they brought it up.
A-ko: I bet you’d rather be here with your brother.

盟: I bought the tickets cause I thought Mei-chan would like it but he won’t accept any gift I give him (and he lost it when he saw it was two tickets) even though he looked like he really wanted to go…

盟 in Hospital

盟 who keeps telling all the nurses his Mei-chan is coming to visit.
- Visiting hours are over but he’s still saying it.
Girls from school come throughout the day and as soon as they’ve left, 盟 “has to” tell the nurses that none of them were Mei-chan.
If 冥 turns up, it’s with the most crumpled flowers and a pack of grapes he tells him to choke on.
He’s even more pissed because of all the flowers and gifts from their schoolmates.
- 盟 clearly has more flowers than anyone needs. It’s too late to start wanting them now (he was never given a chance to want them)
